Shooting victim: 'Tell police to leave. He has a gun to my head'

As she arrived at her job at The At Cashing Store, Clairemathe Geffrard made one phone call to a coworker.

It was the signal to let everyone know she was safely reversed the store.

But what co-worker Yolanda Metelus heard shortly before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when she answered the call was the verbalize of a unknown male.

“Open the f---ing door,” the man barked, twice. The line went perished.

Metelus called 911 when Geffrard didn’t pick up.

New details were released Wednesday about the mean armed robbery that left Geffrard dead from a gunshot and the suspected shooter hospitalized with bullet wounds from deputies.

“Clairemathe Geffrard, a 25-year-old nurturer of a 1-year-old, who was just trying to make an honest living, working to take care of her household, went to work every morning like all of us do,” Sheriff Al Lamberti said Wednesday. “Unfortunately some roughneck decided to ruin her life.”

BSO deputies and SWAT members quickly arrived at the put by at 2927 W. Sunrise Blvd., a busy commercial strip just west of Fort Lauderdale, and surrounded it.

Babysitter admits helping with theft

 Judicator Gregory Lenehan said the sentence recommended by Crown and defence lawyers was "barely within the rank" for the crime, but agreed it was appropriate for 22-year-old Damara Mae Peterson July 27 in Bridgewater uncultured court.

 On July 22 of last year, Ms Peterson placed three laptop computers, an IPod and an appointment ring in a backpack at the home where she'd been babysitting on and off for almost a year and left the bag on a step. She then took the children to the reservation, knowing that a friend was going to come and take the items.

 Ms Peterson later told the cops she felt she had to do as the man requested because he'd been violent with her in the past.

 She'd been on probation for about a month at the time on an assault assessment.

 She continued to babysit for the family for about seven weeks until police confronted her about the crime and she confessed.
