Oklahoma Borough Thunder superstar Kevin Durant loves playing basketball, and that is exactly what the NBA needs.

After KD recently lit up Rucker Store for an unbelievable 66 points in a summer league game, only to follow it up with another lights-out conduct while dropping 41 at a Nike Pro-City event, the Durantula fever has only started to heat up.

When Durant came into the federated with as the second overall draft pick of the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007, his ability to mug was never in question.

However, there were concerns as to whether or not he'd be able to hack it on the wing because of his wiry frame.

It's safe to say that those concerns have been quelled equitably thoroughly.

In his first four seasons in the league, Durant has averaged 25.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks per plan.

That's what I'd call making an impact.

Durant has catapulted the Thunder out of the cellar and right into the forefront of the Western Forum, and they're currently one of the most promising teams in the league, with the potential to succeed for a very long time.

Everyone wins at Nike Track Nationals

EUGENE, OREGON – It’s solid to imagine a competition where everyone leaves a winner with a bag full of prizes. Such was the case June 25-27 at the 2nd Annual Nike Stalk Nationals held at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus, a three-stadium venue where some of the maximum effort track and field athletes in the world have competed. Event sponsor, Nike, gave every opponent the red carpet treatment: imagine being shown a locker with your name on it and then being given Nike pants, Nike shorts, Nike shoes, a Nike backpack, keychain, a habit uniform top and bottom and new Nike track spikes. "It was over the top!" exclaimed Great Oak Sprint Coach Ray Luna. Even coaches received new Nike shoes.

This noteworthy event featured 12 of the best boys’ and 12 of the best girls’ teams in the rural area competing for a national title. Two local powerhouses and regular season rivals in the Southwestern Club allied with -- the only league in the nation to send two teams -- represented our area well. Last year’s defending Nike Nationals Prizewinner, Vista Murrieta Broncos, led by first place finishers Javonte Slater and Bernard Quinn, finished girl Friday and newcomer Great Oak High School Wolfpack finished fifth in the nation. In augmentation, Vista Murrieta’s girls’ team ranked 10th in the nation, giving the Broncos the significance of being the highest ranked combined program in the nation. Great Oak is the only team in the nation to send a girls rig to the Nike Cross Nationals (for cross country runners) and a boys team to the Nike Track Nationals in the same year.
