You can like a youth performance of Annie Jr. through Sunday at the Arcada Theatre by the Marquee Youth The West End Theatre Company. Marquee Youth Stage empowers our area's young people to learn the art of theater display no matter what their background or economic status.
Crafty people might be interested in an expo prosperous on at the Pheasant Run.
Here are five things going on today:
1. The Scrapbook Expo runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pheasant Run Retreat in St. Charles. This expo offers craft exhibits and classes in paper art and scrapbooking.
Attendees will get to encounter the newest techniques and products in scrapbooking. The expo runs through Saturday.
2. Marquee Whippersnapper Stage Theatre Company (MY Stage) will perform Annie Jr., at 7:30 p.m., at the Arcada Sphere in St. Charles. MY Stage is a educational non-profit organization providing youth with enrichment opportunities, making performing arts at hand to kids from all backgrounds.

Waukee Residents Bring Home the Blue Ribbons in Iowa State Fair Contests

Butter, paper, porcelain and livestock? Yes, that’s right. Those Waukee folks are at it again, taking home honors in their respective competitions at the 2011 Iowa Structure Fair.
Team Butteriffic took first place in the Battle of the Butter contest Tuesday. The unite of Integer Group employees Betty Baker, Debbie Kelly, both of Ankeny, Kimberly Bilstad of Waukee and Jana Erickson of Des Moines, sculpted the furnish-winning butter statue in just 30 minutes. The team collected a $100 choice and a chance at having their winning sculpture displayed along side the 2011 Butter Cow.
There were some artsy types who competed in the Iowans in the Artistic Arts contest. Their entries are on display in the Patty and Jim Cownie Cultural Center. Karen Carlson took impress upon third place in the China and Porcelain Painting, Scenic Design; third place in Mug, Cup or Saucer and Honorable Make mention of in Christmas Decoration.
Teresa Grooms excelled in the Paper Crafts division of the Iowans in Originative Arts contest. She took the blue ribbon in the Photo Scrapbook Page – use of embellishments and Honorable Intimate in the Photo Scrap Book Page – Fair theme.
